Mending is an enchantment that repairs an item’s durability with the use of Experience Orbs.
Unlike Unbreaking, Mending repairs the items and bring it back to its original state.
As long as you got an XP and won’t die while wearing or carrying your gear, you can probably use your enchanted items forever.
Each XP orb replenishes two durability points. You won’t get any experience when then the mending is in effect.
However, if your gear is in full durability, the XP will be added to your XP bar.
