Top 5 Best Hunter Race for Wow Classic

Hunters are one of the best class for easier leveling on Classic WoW.

They are popular because of their pets and interesting combat style.

Hunter is also one of the best class for solo leveling.

Hunters are exclusively damage dealing class, as their talents do not allow to become tank, nor do they have any healing abilities except the ability to heal their pets.

There are five races that have available hunter class on the Classic wow, and we will describe each one of them, considering special abilities that races possess.

5. Taurens

Compared to racial abilities of other races, at least when considering every bonus that your hunter can have, taurens come last.

Their passive skill Cultivation, which increases herbalism skill by 15, will help you with leveling same profession, but there is no any improvement in any way of combat.

Second and third passive skills are Endurance, which increases total health by 5%, and Nature Resistance, which adds 10 points to the same resistance.

Health increased by Endurance is affected by gear so it’s a nice bonus to have especially at the level 60.

When it came to the Nature Resistance, while not important as some other resistances, like fire or frost, it will provide some defense, especially during the raiding period of Temple of Ahn’Qiraj.

War Stomp is tauren’s last racial ability and it is active skill that also has a casting time of 0.5 seconds.

When casted, it will stun up to 5 enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds.

This skill will be useful to hunters in situations where they need to move out of close combat, after all their main combat style is range.

4. Night Elves

Popular appearance of the night elves will be attractive to many players.

However, if you are one of them and for your class you want to pick a hunter, there is a good reason why you should not enter the realm of the Classic WoW with this race-class combo.

The racial abilities of the Night Elves can serve well trough the gameplay, but they are simply not better or even at the same level for hunters as the racials of most other races.

First we have Nature Resistance, which increases resistance with the same name by 10.

And just as taurens, the night elves will have some bonuses within the combat against the creatures that uses this type of magic.

Next racial skill of the night elves is called Wisp Spirit and it will transform you into a wisp upon death, increasing your movement speed by 50%.

Having this passive ability will definitely save you some time due to the very long distances between graveyards and the many leveling points on the Classic WoW.

However, except for very rare situations, there is no very much use of this skill in both PvE and PvP.

Third racial, also passive skill, is Quickness.

It increases dodge chance by 1%.

Add this to the hunter’s ability called Aspect of the Monkey which also increases dodge chance, and you will have nice chance to avoid and move out of the close combat faster.

It will be useful in PvE but much more suitable for PvP.

Shadowmeld is the last racial of the Night Elves and this it is the active skill.

When activated, it allows you to step into the shadows, reducing the chance for enemies to detect your presence.

Most elvish classes will use this as AFK cover, but hunters can do much more.

For example, it can be element of the surprise in PvP, with combination of pet that also has some kind of stealth or you could just hide yourself and send your pet to deal with the opponent.

3. Trolls

As a troll hunter you will have nice direct combat bonuses.

Their first passive skill is Beast Slaying, which increases damage dealt versus beasts by 5%.

It’s not decent ability for PvP but in the PvE, especially during the leveling time.

It will be very handy to have since many leveling zones, like Stranglethorne Vale, are completely covered with beasts.

However, creatures in the raids considered to be beasts are rare, so this skill will not be of much use in the raids.

Second passive skill is called Bow Specialization and it increases skill with Bow Weapons by 5.

Well, hunters and bows, there is not much to say about this.

However, unlike melee weapons skills, like maces, swords and similar ranged weapons do not have Glancing Blows, which you can consider to be the skill that is inverse of the defense skill.

But still, bonus weapon skill will improve your chance to hit, and that is good enough.

Third and last passive racial ability of the trolls is Throwing Specialization, which increases skill with throwing weapons by 5.

While it can be handy for the rogues or warriors, for hunters it is completely useless, since they are class inseparable from bows/guns.

Next two skills are the active ones. First is called Berserking and second is Regeneration.

Berserking increases your casting and attack speed by 10% to 30%. At full health the speed increase is 10% with a greater effect up to 30% if you are badly hurt when you activate it. It lasts for 10 seconds and has cooldown of 3 minutes.

This skill can be a nice upgrade in both PvE and PvP.

However, you need to be careful with the timing  at which will you activate it and that is something often argued within the players’ community.

Last racial of the trolls is Regeneration, which increases health regeneration rate by 10% and also, 10% of total health regeneration may continue during the combat.

While not that great of a bonus, from time to time it still can be a life-saver.

2. Orcs

Orcs are almost the best race that Classic WoW has to offer for hunters.

Due to their racial abilities they are powerful in both PvE and PvP.

First, as an orc hunter, you will have a passive skill called Command, which increases damage dealt by hunter and warlock pets by 5%. While useless for most classes, hunters do benefits from this one.

Pets are important for hunters and with the Beast Mastery talents they will be hunters main strength.

Next passive orkish skill is Hardiness, which increases chance to resist stun effect by an additional 25%.

Not much suitable for PvE, but in PvP this one will be your life-saver many times, and it will also make some players think twice before entering the combat with you.

Third and last passive skill for orcs is Axe Specialization, which increases skill with axes and two-handed axes by 5.

There is a large arsenal of axes in the Classic WoW and if you add glancing blows on that it will be handy skill to have.

However, hunters are range class that carries melee weapon mostly for its bonus stats, but from time to time you can bet that this will make some wins for you.

The last racial ability is active, called Blood Fury.

It will increase base melee attack power by 25% for 15 seconds and reduce healing effect by 50% for 25 seconds.

It is not affected by the gear and it is not of a much use for hunters since it increases only melee damage.

1. Dwarves

Dwarves are number one race for your hunter if you are looking for the every possible racial bonus.

First racial skill of dwarves is called Find Treasure, which would allow you to track nearby treasure, by making it appear on the minimap.

However, you can only have one of this type of ability at the time so it can be tricky to deal with, especially because hunters have wide range of tracking abilities.

Second passive skill is Frost Resistance, which adds 10 points to the same resistance and it will be useful mostly for raiding in the Naxxramas.

It will also provide minimal defense within the PvP borders.

Third and last passive dwarven skill is Gun Specialization, which increases skill with guns by 5 and it is a reason why you should, as the dwarf hunter, prefer guns over bows.

However, it was already mentioned before that ranged weapons do not have Glancing Blows, but still, with the gun you will have better chance to hit the target.

Active racial ability Stoneform is the reason why dwarves are best possible race for hunters, and it is especially strong racial for PvP.

While activated, it will grant immunity to Bleed, Poison and Disease effects, in additional it increases armor by 10%. It lasts 10 seconds and has cooldown of 3 minutes.

While useful for other classes too, for hunters it is incredibly powerful defense ability.

To show their full combat potential they need distance from their target, and this skill will let them move away without slowing effects of poisons for example.
